I could not agree more. Combining techniques from both inbound marketing and outbound marketing (as well those from other strategies such as content marketing, product marketing, and social marketing) is at the core of what I call Horizontally Integrated Marketing. Marketing departments need to plan for and capture the entire continuum of data from initial acquisition, to conversion, engagement, qualification, and on through closing and post-sale contact to fully understand which of their efforts are actually impacting the top line and which create activity with no real results.
