Sturgeon’s Law – 90% of everything is crap, be the 10% – #contentmarketing

This is my 100th blog post.  And on this occasion I bring to your attention…Sturgeon’s Law.

In short, Theodore Sturgeon was a well known writer of science fiction and horror stories.  He was also a prolific reviewer of others’ work.  At a time when he was tired of critics deriding science fiction for low-quality writing, and using the worst of the genre to make their point, he is credited with saying that lots of Science Fiction was crap, but 90% of everything is crap.

So with that in mind, I hope that in my 100 posts, you found more than 10 of them to be “not crap” and that I somehow managed to beat Sturgeon’s Law.

I also encourage you to strive to be part of the 10% in this era of Content Marketing.  Content Saturation is a real problem for everyone.  I believe that you need to refocus on relevance and quality in order to stand out from the crowd.  When someone posts too much or too often, I often stop paying attention to what they write, knowing that no one can have something relevant to say about so much.

Be the 10%.
